Welcome back to Kensington Hair Clinic Insights with London hair transplant specialist Trevor Burnham.

Question of the day; how long will the recovery take after a hair transplant?

We get asked this frequently. The main recovery after a hair transplant is very rapid and normally within approximately a fortnight. There is no physical issue after a hair transplant procedure and most patients will have their procedure and be able to get up and walk out and resume their daily activities.

The issue after a hair transplant is purely cosmetic, the area that’s been transplanted will have some redness and the grafts will be visible. Most of this the redness will subside on the epidermis within around about a fortnight, the redness will lessen over time we would expect the grafted area to start shedding at around about the 3 week period. This is the key period for the recovery and healing. Around this period you would need to abstain from things like physical activities, for a short period, and stay away from environments where there’s lots of dirt and dust. This could get could get into the grafted area and cause some issues such as infection.
